Very easy to set up. Good coverage for 5g and 2.4g. Excellent speed in the local network, both wired and via Wi-Fi. Not once in a year of use did it freeze or glitch. Devices reliably stayed connected to the network. Doesn't last long. I had 2 die within a year. I don't know what's wrong with this model, but I'm not the first one whose device just died and can't be fixed. use Xiaomi Mi AIoT Router AX3600 more than year |
Regarding the ax3600 router, it's a good, powerful machine, but what's the point? The router's firmware is quite limited, lacking settings for NAT, multicast, and I had to forward ports for remote management because the mi wifi app is practically useless without these settings. The 160MHz bandwidth mode is dynamic, not much to say about it. I tested the same tp-link ax50, and it already has all these settings by default; you set it up and forget about it. It even has a remote management switch with a choice of ports in the administration settings. I sincerely hope that this flagship will be improved over time and its capabilities fully developed to match tp-link's WiFi 6 devices, as I see no point in picking it up; it's powerful, yes, the hardware is serious, yes, but it's all undermined by the limited firmware. If the situation doesn't change soon, and ax60, ax73 with comparable hardware and price come to market, it would certainly make sense to replace the device. Powerful hardware, a well-designed cooling system, a powerful radio transmitter with onboard amplifiers. Firmware - the software is terrible and limited, updates arrive in an unclear manner, and a full reset is strongly recommended after updating. The router is excellent in terms of hardware, but what’s the point if there's nowhere to utilize it? use Xiaomi Mi AIoT Router AX3600 few months |
4 years, like clockwork. It's even strange to read negativity. Set it up via the app, and that's it. Excellent antennas, covers a 3-room monolith. Convenience of settings, stability of operation All OK ![]() |
Separate antenna for connecting "smart" gadgets
At the beginning of 2020, the Chinese giant Xiaomi released its first Wi-Fi 6 router. As always, they didn’t want to make just a router, but got confused with the design and unusual features. Looking like a miniature breadbasket, the Mi AIoT Router AX3600 is littered with antennas. Four are allocated for the 5 Hz band, a couple more are responsible for 2.4 Hz, and the central AIoT antenna has a special role. Using the MiHome app, it automatically finds and instantly integrates new “smart” gadgets into the home ecosystem, whether it be smart bulbs, wireless speakers or ovens. Such an instant connection is one of the features of the new generation of Wi-Fi 6, which allows the Smart Home project to open up in a new way. So that the router does not get tired of the ever-growing number of “smart” gadgets, it was equipped with a performant bundle of a Qualcomm quad-core processor and an additional dual-core network accelerator.
Bandwidth 2976 Mbps
Living in the headquarters of Inspector Gadget is certainly cool, but how good is the Router AX3600 in everyday work in an ordinary apartment? On the one hand, this is a very advanced device with very high quality signal coverage, high speed (2402 Mbps in the 5 GHz band and 574 Mbps when connected to 2.4 GHz), the ability to connect up to 248 clients, support for useful things like MU-MIMO and Beamforming, as well as a simple mobile app setup system. After updating the firmware, the 5 GHz radio module learned to work with a 160 MHz band and seamless MESH networks.
Unrealized potential (so far)
On the other hand, all its iron power is used at best by half: the software is not the most convenient and functional with a mediocre VPN implementation, cut out by DLNA and missing iPTV and a torrent client. The same can be said about the chips for a smart home, although the MiHome application was translated from Chinese into English, the router is still only friendly with smart gadgets from Xiaomi, and if you, for example, have a smart light bulb or a robot vacuum cleaner from other manufacturers , then sorry, it will not work to integrate them into a smart home from Xiaomi. Perhaps all this will be finished in official firmware. Or craftsmen from the forums will get down to business. Otherwise, it will be a Bugatti Veyron in a village without a single paved road. Effective and useless.
Bought the same router, and it worked for me for exactly one year. Suddenly in the evening, the internet disappeared, all indicators blink evenly once a second, and it doesn't respond to reboot or reset. The warranty just expired. It's a shame because it was expensive for a router.
