The Chinese company TP-LINK is a guru of network equipment for home and small office. Its products are preferred for a good ratio of cost and advanced functionality. The RE505X repeater model was no exception to the rule.
Wi-Fi 6 networks
The most significant trump card in the repeater's sleeve is support for the latest high-speed Wi-Fi 6 standard. The device connects to the host router via Wi-Fi or using a Gigabit Ethernet cable port. The latter, depending on the selected settings, works in LAN or WAN modes, which makes it possible to use the TP-LINK RE505X as an access point.
OneMesh Technology
The technological “trick” of the model is the support of the OneMesh proprietary technology, which allows you to deploy a seamless Wi-Fi network with one name. Traffic in it smoothly switches between the router and the repeater, depending on the strength of the signal coming from both sources. OneMesh is managed from the Tether mobile app. Also, the repeater can be configured through an intuitive web interface.

TP-LINK RE505X operates at 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies, providing wireless data throughput of up to 300 Mbps and up to 1200 Mbps, respectively. The device is plugged into a regular household outlet. It also includes a location assistant feature (based on Wi-Fi signal strength). A large house, a multi-room apartment or an average office in terms of “square area” are the “native” habitats of the repeater, which will not let you down at a crucial moment.
