Mobile phones of the Chinese "tiger" Xiaomi
The Chinese corporation Xiaomi Corporation literally broke into the global mobile device market in 2012-2014 and turned from a newcomer into one of the industry leaders in a matter of years. Today, the brand offers users a wide selection of models that combine solid technical equipment with a reasonable price.
History of success
Xiaomi's path to the top has been quite unusual for a manufacturer of mobile phones and accessories. After all, the first product of the company, established in 2010, was a firmware for smartphones based on the Android OS. The software shell called MIUI turned out to be so successful that millions of users installed it on their smartphones.
Having received recognition, since 2011 the brand began to produce its own smartphones. At first, the company produced one model a year. As it became known later, prices for these Xiaomi phones were set close to the cost, and the main income for the manufacturer was brought by the purchase of accessories: covers, protective glasses, power banks.
But soon the Xiaomi range expanded significantly, and the company itself turned into a real electronics giant that produces smartwatches, tablets, household appliances, and personal electric vehicles. The range of Xiaomi phones has also changed (sometimes such a transcription of the company's name is also found) — in addition to low-cost models, middle-class devices began to appear, and then flagships.
The lineup
The names of Xiaomi phone lines can be confusing at first for an inexperienced user due to the similarity of names. However, in fact, it is not difficult to understand these series:
- Redmi is a popular series of low-cost devices, which in terms of functionality often correspond to the middle class of other manufacturers. For example, the cases of some models are made not of plastic, but of aluminium, which is not typical for state employees.
- Mi are Xiaomi's flagship phones, which are equipped with top-end processors and graphics accelerators, a large amount of RAM and advanced cameras from several modules. Firmware updates are released primarily for these devices.
- Mi Mix — this line is designed to demonstrate the technical capabilities of the Chinese company. For example, it is a slider smartphone with a retractable camera or a phone with a screen on both sides of the case. These devices are not designed for the mass market and record sales, they show the possible ways of the future development of the mobile industry.
- Note, Max, Pro, Lite — these words are found in the names of many models, sometimes forming separate lines. For example, Redmi Note or Mi Maximum Usually, the prefix Note or Max means an increased screen size. However, often the display of a new model without this prefix in the title may be larger in size than that of last year's device from the Note line. The word Pro means a "strengthened" version of a phone with a more powerful processor and more memory. The word Lite, on the contrary, means a "light" version, which is cheaper.
- Pocophone — The target audience of this series are demanding users who want to buy a Xiaomi phone with powerful hardware, but at a moderate price. Therefore, for such gadgets, low-cost case materials are used, but they are equipped with powerful processors and a large amount of RAM.
- Black Shark is a gaming series of smartphones with a distinctly aggressive design. Gamepads can be attached to the body of such phones. Specifications meet the requirements of mobile gaming: a powerful chip, a capacious battery, a cooling system that prevents the device from heating up during the game.
