TP-LINK Archer C20 V5

Low-cost dual-band wireless router with three fixed antennas and four RJ-45 Fast Ethernet ports. It is positioned as one of the most affordable TP-Link devices with DualBand support, i.e. with simultaneous operation in two frequency ranges. Using the 5 GHz band solves a common problem in apartment buildings, which is noisy air and low data transfer rates on the traditional 2.4 GHz frequency.
The MediaTek MT7620A ARM processor is responsible for processing and encrypting traffic, and the MT7610E chip provides work in wireless networks of the IEEE 802.11ac / n / ac (5 GHz) and IEEE 802.11b / g / n (2.4 GHz) standards. Three fixed antennas are used to form a stable Wi-Fi coverage. Thanks to this equipment, the TP-LINK Archer C20 v4 wireless router is capable of speeds up to 433 Mbps (5 GHz) and 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz).
Four cable LAN ports and one WAN provide stable throughput of 100 Mbps. All necessary security protocols and strong traffic encryption are supported. There are Firewall, NAT and DHCP server functions. The router is able to function in bridge mode and passes VPN traffic (PPTP, L2TP, IPSec) without problems. It is possible to create two wireless guest networks (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). The initial setup of the device is simple and can be done from a smartphone with the Tether app.

I bought this model instead of the WR841, the old one often reset settings, I was not satisfied with the wifi range. I've been using the C20V5 Archer for a month; the range for a 75 sq meter house is excellent, the dual-band feature is great, and the settings are easy to configure. I don’t understand why there are so many negative comments about the model. The router is reliable and fast, and for the price it’s great In my city, the fastest internet is 100mb/s, so to replace the old router that started glitching after 10 years, the C20 model was chosen. Primarily because of the price and reliability. The router is connected by cable to the TV, computer, surveillance system recorder, and a separate surveillance camera + via Wi-Fi to the laptop, tablet, smartphones, and Nintendo Switch. It maintains a stable connection throughout the apartment, which is particularly noticeable with the Nintendo, which is very sensitive to connection quality: through 3 walls - everything is perfect, no packet drops. It was very easy to set up, looks nice, and can be managed through a mobile app to monitor statistics and connected devices. I also like its original design; it doesn't look outdated, although it does collect dust. I read that some users have these routers overheating - I haven't noticed such an issue with mine, even though it's turned on 24/7 and works at full capacity. After six months of active use, I bought the same router for my parents' apartment - no complaints. Of the shortcomings, I would like to have a user-friendly, but glitchy mobile app, since it freezes and does not allow you to work with the device. Well, the glossy panel, which is electrified and attracts a lot of tones, is such a solution, especially if you are not a fan of sparse tidying. ![]() |
this is already the second router of this kind that I've owned, and I had no issues with the first one for several years. We bought another model for a different place and that's when the problems started. The internet keeps dropping out, both Wi-Fi and wired connections; updates and custom firmware don't fix the issue, and the official service under warranty finds no problems. The only solution I found was using this router as a repeater to extend the signal. Surprisingly, it works steadily and doesn't cut the speed. But in the future, I will never buy one like this again. good speed, dual-band mode constant internet disconnection, terrible manufacturer support ![]() |
