Cost/Performance A powerful tower is needed to deliver potential ![]() |
Took 08.2021, for 6k UAH. At that time it was more profitable than the 3600x, even if you count with the motherboard. After the fufiks, I didn’t want to contact AMD again. Cold with a simple Gammaxx GTE V2. Performance is top-notch; I didn't find any tasks that would justify paying extra for an i7. The platform was more advantageous than Ryzen. Installed and forgot (sounds like a joke, but it's true, over time you want to enjoy the computer, not spend evenings in the BIOS, squeezing a few extra megahertz and running AIDA64). No ![]() |
Overall, the jokes about plumbing for cooling and high-voltage lines for power turned out to be not quite jokes. A power-hungry, very hot chip. This is exactly the price Intel had to pay to catch up with Zen 3. But even though it's cheaper than the 5600X and doesn’t lag in performance, this difference will be offset by slightly more expensive motherboards and the need for more powerful cooling. The main advantage of this processor is that you can use it until you buy a graphics card, thanks to the integrated graphics, and at the moment, this is a huge plus. For example, if you take the 5600G, it will later bottleneck any discrete card with a limited number of PCIe lanes and cut-down L3 cache - YouTube is full of tests with dismal results. Performance - my old 10400f tears it to shreds, FPS and stability in games have increased significantly. The integrated graphics allow you to finally play something, it handles PoE, Raft, and even Minecraft with a hundred mods (and that's a very resource-demanding beast, trust me), so there's plenty to play. Price - a little lower than the competitor like the 5600x, and if you take the non-K version, the offer is even more attractive. Now, it's not necessary to get a Z-chipset for fast memory; boards on B560 support its overclocking and are reasonably priced. Heating and wild consumption. The Dark Rock 4 Pro barely copes with it, even at stock, holding around 76-82 degrees in AIDA, with brief spikes to nearly 90. It doesn't particularly want to undervolt either, it seems Intel sends pretty tight chips on the lower series. Initially, a DeepCool Gammax EX 400 was installed, and with it, it managed to throttle at stock. Once again - at stock, power limits were set to Intel's. The new memory controller and its gear modes are like those on the tenth generation; you can't just plug in any high-speed stick and enable XMP. Above 3600, there's a high probability you'll have to switch to Gear 2 mode and deal with drops in memory performance, spending long evenings tweaking the timings. All that's left is for someone to release a calculator, and it will be a true Ryzen experience. Although I experienced drops at any frequency and mode until I moved from Z490 (updated BIOS for 11th generation, tried several versions) to Z590 - so much for promised compatibility, although ASRock might have messed something up. ![]() |

For play and work
Intel Core i5-11400 — Six physical cores and twelve virtual threads make this processor suitable for professional video editing and 3D modeling. And the progressive architecture of Cypress Cove, which is almost 20% superior to Skylake, performs well even in the most demanding games.
trigger mechanism
De jure, the Core i5-11400 consumes only 65 watts of electricity and generates about the same amount of heat. But de facto Turbo Boost technology automatically increases the frequency by half a minute, which leads to a jump in TDP to 150 watts. Therefore, a miniature boxed cooler is an exclusively temporary solution, until you buy a tower or, better, a dropsy.
increased appetite
The new technology of unrestricted auto-overclocking Velocity Boost allows you to turn the Core i5-11400 into a permanent 150-watt. But this also places high demands on the motherboard, namely on the quantity and quality of power phases. Be sure to have radiators on the VRM. The base chipset H510 is obviously not enough here, you need a mid-level B560.
Graphics card in addition
The Core i5-11400 also has an integrated UHD 730 graphics accelerator based on the Intel Xe architecture. Unlike more powerful laptop counterparts, Intel Xe desktop graphics have only 32 clusters, which is why it loses to the rival Radeon Vega. But it supports hardware playback of the latest AV1 video codec.
Motherboard with a B560 socket
The processor is very good. But I have a 200W cooler, I unlocked the processor power consumption in the BIOS. At load, it consumes 150-170W.
I recommend buying.
