I used this lens with the A850, and now I've switched to the A99. Unfortunately, I didn't get the same image quality from Sony or Minolta lenses, although the "Oldie" delivered good photos, it wasn't quite Zeiss-Sony level. I was delighted by the sharpness when the aperture was wide open, and the unique image quality—airy, beautifully detailed with vibrant colors. I found myself tweaking less in Lightroom with this glass, which is for the better. I disagree with those who say that for a professional, the most important thing is the gear, not the lens. That's not quite true. A professional will get the most out of an average lens, but this lens makes it easier for a non-professional to shoot, thus increasing the percentage of genuinely good shots. Another plus is the ability to manually adjust sharpness in any direction after focusing. A very convenient feature that has disappeared in the E series lenses. Due to its versatility, the lens covers most of my needs and, thanks to its image quality, can quite subjectively replace several popular primes in its range. - Sharp at all aperture values - Excellent color rendition - Some indescribable "Zeiss-like" image - Basically the price, but I bought it secondhand, seems not bad - Original filters are a bit pricey use Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 ZA A SSM Vario-Sonnar T* few months |
