Proprietary Dual LED lighting system
I immediately want to praise the colour accuracy, right out of the box the TV shows a colorful and realistic picture. The slightly more affordable Samsung QE-55Q67R, which we recently tested, had to be manually tuned. Upscaling is also well implemented here, lower resolution video looks sharp and very high quality, and the difference between native and upscaled resolutions when playing on the Xbox Series S is barely noticeable. Especially at a three-metre distance. But the viewing angles leave much to be desired: it is better for the viewer to take a seat right in front of the screen. In this regard, competing IPS panels from LG look more profitable: although the black is not so black, the picture does not fade at an angle, so it is still more convenient to watch a movie or play in a large company. Despite not the highest contrast ratios and the lack of local dimming, the TV opens up great when playing high dynamic range video (HDR10 + is supported). Apparently, you need to thank for this proprietary Dual LED backlight system, which adjusts the brightness of the display in accordance with what is happening on the screen.
Updated Ambient Mode
The wide multimedia capabilities of the TV are revealed by the proprietary OC Tizen, which has proven itself due to its stability, speed and variety of available applications. The “smart” shell is complemented by the One Remote with various voice assistants. Other features worth highlighting are AirPlay 2 and the upgraded Ambient Mode. The latest update introduced Background modes with imitation of textures and walls in the room, an interactive photo frame and an info display. Samsung's commendable desire to fit a huge TV into the interior of the room as unobtrusively as possible. A good start for the future will be an HDMI 2.1 port with increased bandwidth.
